About Almunecar

Almunecar is a sea-side town situated on the Costa Tropical, in Andalusia, between Malaga (with an international airport) and Motril.

The climate is Mediterranean, with average temperature between 12°C to 26°C.

Behind the coast there are the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, the highest mountain range in the Iberian Peninsula, highest peaks have over 3,000 meters and are only about 35 kilometers away from the town.

The average daily sunshine hours are between 5 hours in December to 11 hours in June and July.

The average sea temperature is between 15°C in February and March to 23°C in August.

The restaurants are a mixed of traditional and international gastronomy, there are multiple places where to shop and open-air markets with traditional products.

The city was founded by the Phoenicians about 800 BC and has been invaded and occupied over time by Romans, Visigoths, Muslims. There are many monuments and architectural structures that depict the history and occupation of the town.
